1937 A.R. Luke Teal One Design

Carvel built 5-ton handicap racer, built by Luke Brothers in 1937 at Hamble to A.R. Luke's admired design. Copper-fastened on steamed oak frames. Only nine of these fast yachts were ever built, perhaps only three survive.

LALERNE sail number TL7 is laid up on the hard at Liverpool, her home port for many years.

Uffa Fox in Racing, Cruising and Design wrote, "Teal was a delight to the eye, as one would expect, for she was designed by Luke, of Hamble. She proved herself to be such an able boat, both as a racer and as a day cruiser that more were built the following year."

Teal won the Round the Island Race in 1935 and 1936 and in the first post-war race in 1945 her sister ship Content was the winner.

LALERNE is offered for sale after some careful hull restoration work at a token price with neither mast nor engine. Lifting and road transport can easily be arranged.
