ESK

Designed in 1973 by Alan Pape, C Eng, MRINA, for ocean passage-making, the Cuttyhunk 41 preceded his famous Saga 40 and Ebbtide designs.

Due to family relocation the project is now for sale, as she lies, in a dry shed in North Yorkshire with all her 24mm marine ply decks and bulkheads in place, four Gebo hatches fitted, cockpit and aft hatches fitted and finished with teak and strip teak decking on the doghouse and forward hatch. Lewmar deck winches and a full set of stainless steel 316 deck fittings with a six-foot teak bowsprit are in place. The hull top sides are 8mm, 10mm below with 24mm laid ply decks epoxy-coated.

Hydraulic wheel steering is fitted. A fully-reconditioned Perkins 4.108 53 hp four-cylinder intercooled diesel engine with BorgWarner gearbox has been installed. The 1,760 cc engine is very widely used in marine, road and farm applications.

The hull moulding was purchased in 1998 and re-sprayed in two-pack polyurethane green paint with International grey primer below the waterline.

The lead keel has not been cast but a mould is ready and a foundry quotation for casting is available. There is no mast, no rigging and no ground tackle, but a mast compression post has been installed. There is no galley fitted, but an RM69 sea lavatory is installed.

Sealand Boat Deliveries have costed a haul out of the shed and transport to any location within 300 miles of York at GBP 4980.00, including V.A.T., insurance and cranes.
