The Good Boat Guide says
... strongly built and, by the standards of the time, amazingly roomy family cruiser capable of dealing with most conditions in a competent and well-mannered if unexciting fashion. With over 2,000 built, this has to be the most successful Westerly ever and for many years carried a premium on the second-hand market, not so much now.
Hull: Glass-reinforced polyester. Cast iron bilge keels, skeg hung rudder and tiller steering. Deep self-draining cockpit. Antifouled October 2017.

Laurent Giles wrote,

The Centaur has a very low waterline-over-beam coefficient, a clean canoe body and twin bilge keels of aero-foil section. The power installation has its propeller working in clear water and the balanced skegiess spade rudder provides ample control under sail or power.
